I had a dream about LOST last night. In it, the secret of the island was revealed. I'm not sure why I dreamt about LOST, and I'm pretty sure nothing in my dream will come true.
It started as I was sitting down to watch the season finale. The show was really fast paced and all the characters were running around. Sawyer Kate were together. Kate started running after Jack's dad in the jungle, but in my dream, it was her dad. She followed him onto a boat in the middle of the lake on the island, and Sawyer followed. When she got on the boat, Jack's dad was gone, but a body was popping up out of the water. Sawyer was like 'We're getting the hell out of this lake" and put the boat in gear. The boat shot forward, but started taking on water. When they got to the shore, the boat was completely submerged, but Kate and Sawyer were able to swim out.
Once on the grass, these people came out of a tunnel with guns. Kate and Sawyer got to the ground, then went into the tunnel to see where the people came from. They opened a door and found themselves in a bright room with tables and chairs. They also recognized people in the room, the Others.
They made their way from the room to a hallway. The hallway led to a parking garage and in this garage, there were cars. Then, Sawyer turn into Jack, and some people with guns were holding Jack, Kate, and I hostage. (I am now in LOST.. lol). Then Ben comes up and gets Jack and Kate free and takes them somewhere. I am left there with guns pointed at me, until something happens that takes all their attention away from me. So I run to find Jack and Kate. I find they went into the small closet and I join them. We discuss what we should do next. As we are talking about escape options, someone comes to the door with a key and we can hear the giggling of the keys. We all get the the back of the closet, but no one comes in. Then Ben opens the door and says 'It doesn't matter anymore, they found it.'
And we look outside the door and a panel in the floor has been opened. There are people running and jumping into the new hole in the ground. We look in and see a stairwell leading to a tunnel with a rooster in it, and lots of bird poop. Tom (Mr. Friendly) is on the stairwell waving people down. When I see this sight, I know exactly what it is- probably from some other dream- and it is a portal to a place where no one ever dies. Of course, I don't want to go down there, so I go to talk to Ben. Ben is very depressed about the people finding the portal. It was his job to protect it. He says, 'it was my job to decide who gets to go in, and now that it is open, anyone can go in -- even bad people'.
So my dream told me that: 1.) It's not the island that is hiding, it is the island that is DOING the hiding, and 2.) The island is hiding a portal to a place where you can live forever (Richard Alpert?).

the big metal 'things'
So, in certain parts of Dallas... usually the older parts. There are these huge (maybe 8 in diameter and 4 in in height) metal circles that separate the left turn lane from the rest of the lanes. Some newer installations of these 'things' are plastic, but still just as large.
What I would like to know is... What are these? What is their purpose besides separating the lanes? Do the benefits of these 'things' out-weigh the risks/damage that could be had by driving into/over one?
Ok. I can see why they were put there. They will control traffic going into the turn lanes too late. But, as we discussed earlier, street signs in Dallas are HORRIBLE, so unless you know where you are going (or have GPS) it is impossible to know what the street is until you are up close to it... and then if you are turning left... too bad sucka.
Additionally, I think these pose more of a hazard than a benefit. Say you were going along and there happens to be a big branch in your way. You could pass it in the left turn lane... but NO! If you run into/over these metal things your tires/rims are messed up.
Why oh why waste tax money on these dreadful things? Whose idea was this?

Text Message I got today..
So when should we start filling out the adoption papers? We gotta get it done soon for the cruise!
This was a wrong number text.. which I now have to pay $0.20 for..but besides that.. what kind of person would send this as a text message? Is this a joke?

If you are heading north on 35E ...
And you are going to take the turnpike (especially at night) I hope you have very good vision. The exit for 'The President George Bush Turnpike" is on the right. Once you exit onto the ramp, you must make the decision to go either North/South or East/West (don't ask me why I don't know). Well that is fine and good, except the writing for the direction is in very small font. BUT, the font for the name of the freeway "The President George Bush Turnpike" takes up the whole sign. That is great... but everyone knows they are on the exit for "The President George Bush Turnpike" already. At this point, it is more important to know what direction you need to go in than the name of the freeway. Who designed this sign, and what were they thinking?
I will post pictures of this when I can get my husband to drive me. :-)

Traffic Signs
Why do they :
1. Make signs you cannot read.
2. Put them on the wrong side of the road.
3. Make signs you cannot read!
4. Have lanes merging on curves (with poor signage)
